Description:The Major Concentration African Studies provides students with an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the African continent.

Students wishing to major in African Studies should consult the Program Adviser at the beginning of their first academic year. In the African Studies Major concentration, students will be encouraged to identify an area within a discipline of the Faculty, taking as many relevant courses as possible in that field.

Mathematics - NYA, NYB, (00UN, 00UP) (Applicants with Social Science Mathematics - 103, 203 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.) Minimum of four science courses from the following: Biology - NYA, General Biology II (00UK, 00XU), Chemistry - NYA, NYB (00UL, 00UM), Physics - NYA, NYB, NYC (00UR, 00US, 00UT).

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 577] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 85]
