Description:

This program is for BScN prepared applicants who wish a Master’s (course based) degree leading to a PHCNP.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (60 units taken at a university) with a minimum of a B+ average over the final 60 units from an undergraduate nursing program, or its equivalent. Applicants who are graduates of a baccalaureate nursing degree program for registered nurses and who have between 50 and 59 units of university study will be considered on a case-by-case basis. These 60 units will not include advanced credit for college courses.
    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 237] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 580] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 92] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7]
    Application Notes : Applicants whose native language is not English will be required to submit an official copy of their TOEFL score, or other evidence of competency in English is required. A minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 92 (580 on the paper-based TOEFL test or 237 on the computer-based TOEFL test) is needed for the Faculty of Health Sciences. Students taking the IELTS are required to achieve a minimum score of 7. Equivalent scores on other recognized tests may also be considered. Each of these scores are only valid for 2 years. Students who have completed an Academic ESL program through Canadian academic institutions may petition to have this considered in lieu of TOEFL. Applicants may be exempted from this requirement if they have completed a university degree at which English is the language of instruction.

    Applicants are required to submit a confidential letter from two persons who have known you in a professional context, two academic and two clinical references, a Curriculum Vitae (including a list of publications and funded research grants), and a personal essay responding to four questions related to suitability for the PHCNP program. Applicants are also required to have two years of full time nursing practice within the past five years (3640 hours). Please visit the website for complete details.
