Description:

The areas of study broadly followed by all Mathematics Department students in the first two years are: mechanics, analysis, geometry, algebra, methods training, statistics, probability and computation. You will complete an individual poster project and group projects, as the course utilises a variety of teaching styles and assessment methods. During your third year you will specialise in applied mathematics and physics. You can choose from areas including (geophysical) fluid dynamics, general/special relativity, electromagnetism, tensor calculus and mathematical physics methods.
