Description:

The Renovation Technician program will prepare students with the skills necessary to enter into a career in the residential and light commercial industry construction sector.
Students will complete all entry level courses of the Carpenter program which is a designated trades program approved by the Provincial Apprenticeship and Certification Board. Students will be exposed to hands-on training to provide them with practical experience in the construction field. In addition to the entry level carpentry courses which include safety, blueprint reading, estimating, layouts and footings, interior/exterior finish, stairs, and wall finishes, students will also acquire skills in project management, building science, renovating green, AutoCAD, outdoor and indoor renovation projects including basic welding, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical exposure. Graduates of the program will receive a diploma for Carpenter which will provide them with the option to register as a carpenter apprentice with the Department of Education (Industrial Training Unit) in addition to receiving a diploma for Renovation Technician.
