Description:

This program enables you to explore clay, glazes and firing methods while developing techniques and a personal aesthetic through working with low- and high-fire materials including raku, gas and electric kilns. As you progress, you’ll learn to create clay bodies, calculate glazes using computer software, make molds and experiment with functional and sculptural forms. Through applied research, critical discourse and self-reflection, you will engage in experimentation and creative problem solving. You learn about written and visual communications for artists and entrepreneurs, art history, drawing and 2D/3D design. Assignments are designed to create a portfolio that celebrates the power of your imagination and can be used to launch your career in ceramics.
