Description:Engage in the study of society and cultural life to better understand social structures, human interaction and social change. Learn sociological research methods and theories with a focus on social justice, diversity and inequality.

In the Honours Program, students will complete more courses in the subject area, take part in Honours seminars, work one-on-one with a chosen faculty member who will serve as their Honours Advisor, and complete an Honours Thesis requiring original research. The Honours program allows students to graduate with both a broad and extensive background in their field and with strong and in-depth concentration on a specialized area of interest in their field. An Honours Degree provides excellent training for careers in the student's selected field for those who are planning on entering the workforce, as well as extensive preparation for graduate study for those who are planning on applying to graduate school.

Mount Royal has a general admission policy which must be met to be considered for admission into our academic programs. Once you have applied and we have received your supporting documentation, the Admissions and Recruitment Office will determine your admission category.

Test Scores:
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 86] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Pearson Test of English (Academic) [min. 58]

Applicants must meet English requirements for admission to Mount Royal, if your first language (learned and understood) is not English.
