The community service worker diploma students learn to provide many types of assistance to people in the community, determine eligibility for social assistance and health programs, counsel clients with physical and mental problems, family issues, youth violence, immigration and settlement issues, and those involved in drug and substance abuse. This program involves small group work, practice interviews, and self-awareness exercises. This diploma also includes a three-month internship placement where they will apply the skills learned in class and gain real work experience.
Graduates may find job opportunities as immigration and settlement worker, employment counsellor, addiction counsellor, child and youth counsellor, family assistant, case worker, community outreach worker, and intake worker. |
