| In the contemporary art world, the boundaries between media and disciplines are breaking down and widening the scope of artistic expression. Our Drawing/Intermedia program gives students the opportunity to explore and expand on approaches ranging from traditional drawing and photography methods to installation, digital media and performance art, and to extend their visual language by relating their work to a range of contemporary issues. The guiding philosophy of Drawing/Intermedia is to engage deeply with the social, political, and creative purpose of artistic practice, and to explore media that best reflect students' personal engagement with ideas, critical thinking and critical theory as they move through our program. In addition to studio practice, a significant amount of research is expected, involving theoretical study and discussion. Students have access to all full-time Faculty, who conduct studio visits and provide continuous feedback and comments to help them develop as professional artists. |

Applicants to the MFA studio program must hold a four-year Bachelor's degree, normally a BFA degree, from a university or another recognized academic institution. You require a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4 point scale in the last two years of study. Applicants who have completed university degree programs other than the four-year BFA (for example, a four year BA) must provide evidence of work related to the student's intended area of study that is representative of a level of development equivalent to advanced study in a university program, and a transcript showing completion of senior level coursework (two full-year courses or four half-year courses) in the History of Art and Design. |
