Description:

The Interpreter/Translator program is designed for students interested in the more technical aspects of the Inuktitut language and who wish to pursue a career in this field. The first year places special emphasis on language development, communication skills and technical skills necessary in translation. The second year is designed to assist students to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required as an interpreter. Emphasis will be placed on helping the student acquire specialized vocabulary in technical areas, and on consecutive and simultaneous interpreting skills.

  •  Grade12 English 
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent or pass the appropriate Arctic College placement exams with acceptable scores. Students should also have oral fluency in Inuktitut and English
Application Notes : Applicants should also submit a letter of interest and complete the NAC Entrance Assessment.

Students will be required to write an English/Inuktitut language proficiency test. Personal suitability will be assessed through an interview with program personnel.
