|Description:||How do you find an optimal location for a new shopping centre, hospital, school, or restaurant? How do you determine a service area for a grocery supermarket? Where are potential customers for a new banking service? With the skills you develop in this concentration, you're able to address many business, socioeconomic, and demographic challenges from a spatial context and present solutions visually on a map. You'll hone your GIS skills with a focus on enterprise solutions. You'll develop other specific skills too, such as location analysis, network analysis, data mining, computer programming, and database management. At the end, you have a powerful combination of marketable skills that are in demand by businesses of all sizes and by public services.
All graduates of this concentration have been very successful finding jobs. Areas of employment range from government to private sectors and from world-leading GIS industry, banking, retail, real estate, healthcare to tourism, recreation, and law enforcement. Typical mjob titles are market analyst, GIS analyst, market research analyst, GIS technologist, and project manager.
