| This three-year Master of Periodontics is designed to train competent periodontists to practice the full scope of periodontics and surgical implant dentistry using an evidence-based approach to treatment. The program provides students with a variety of clinical experiences, emphasizing thorough patient evaluation and accuracy in diagnosis and treatment planning. Students will be trained to manage patients in need of treatment for a variety of periodontal diseases and mucogingival defects, Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMD), dental implant therapy and conscious sedation. Students will also participate in a research project. |
| Application Notes : | Applicants must have completed a minimum of a four-year D.D.S. (or equivalent) from a university-based dental institution with a minimum overall average equivalent of B+ (76%). For international students, a certified (by a lawyer or notary public) copy of the applicant's diploma must be provided plus an original letter from the Dean of the university certifying their graduation and the date of graduation. Additionally, they must have demonstrated ability to communicate and write in English. If the applicant has spent less than 3 years at an English language post-secondary institution, the applicant will be required to demonstrate ability to communicate and write in English (i.e. minimum paper based TOEFL of 600, or computer-based TOEFL minimum of 100; IELTS score minimum of 7.5).
Applicants must fill out and submit an application form either online or through mail. Paper application forms must be received by the Faculty of Graduate Studies (see address on application form) by the application deadline. Additionally, applicants must submit transcripts of their university dentistry education, a copy of their National Dental Examining Board certificate, and proof of English-language competency, if appropriate. These supporting documents are to be sent to the Department of Dental Clinical Sciences. |

Applicants must submit two letters of reference. These letters must be sent directly by the referees to the Department of Dental Clinical Sciences. At least one of the letters must be from a periodontics faculty member. Additionally, applicants must submit a one page essay outlining reasons for choosing the periodontics program and career aspirations.
