Description:

The SCBScN program is offered jointly by the Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the University of Regina. As a student you will begin your nursing education in Year 1 with opportunities to work directly with patients and clients. When you graduate, you’ll receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. You’ll be ready to make a real difference in the lives of your clients and communities and work as a valuable member of a health care team.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  • 2 of  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade12 Mathematics  or  Grade12 Precalculus 
  •  Grade12 Biology 
  •  Grade12 Chemistry 
Applicants who have completed Grade 12, and have less than 15 credit hours of post-secondary studies, will be admitted on the basis of high school grades. Applicants from other Canadian provinces or from other countries will need to present equivalent courses. GED will not be accepted in lieu of Grade 12

If you have attempted 15 credit hours of post-secondary studies, you must apply through post-secondary admission. If you have attempted 9 credit hours or more of nursing classes, you must apply through upper year admission.

Applicants must present the following five courses for admission to the program with a minimum of 70% on each course listed. These five courses will be used to calculate your admission average: English Language Arts A30 * See note 1, English Language Arts B30 * See note 1, one of Foundations of Math 30 or Pre-Calculus 30 ** See note 2, Biology 30, and Chemistry 30.

*Note 1: Applicants may substitute one of Francais Fransaskois A30/B30 or Francais Immersion 30 for English Language Arts A30 or B30. Applicants from Fransaskois and French Immersion programs may also substitute the equivalent subjects taught in French for those listed above.
*Note 2: Saskatchewan high school students can present math requirements under the new and/or former curriculums. The previous Saskatchewan mathematics courses of Math A30, Math B30, Math C30 or Calculus 30 will be accepted.
Test Scores:
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Test of Written English (part of TOEFL) [min. 5] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7.0] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90]
