| Additional Admission Requirements: | A current (within two years) Police Records Search is required by students as they will be enrolled in a program during which they will have unsupervised access to vulnerable persons. For detailed information regarding the specifics and process please refer to the section titled 'Police Records Search Procedure for Students in Health & Human Services Programs' page 74. All costs associated to these requirements are the responsibility of the student. CPR (Level C), WHMIS, and First Aid Certificate: Students are required to provide copies of their certification for these courses. Students are responsible for maintaining annual CPR and first aid certifications throughout their program. Students require a high degree of involvement and commitment. College and university graduates will receive advanced standing into the Police Foundations program and may be able to complete the remainder of the required courses in two semesters. Graduates of the Police Foundations program should be aware that to be eligible for employment with police agencies in Ontario, they may be required to write a certification examination, as well as meet fitness, mathematics, communications, reasoning, hearing, and vision requirements. In order to secure employment in policing after graduation, the student must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and a Grade 12 graduate. First aid and CPR training is a requirement for all employment in policing. First aid and CPR training will also be required for the community policing courses. Students will be responsible for ensuring certification prior to the start of these courses. A valid driver's license is also a requirement for all employment in policing. Students will be required to complete the PREP (Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police) at the superior level in order to graduate. We recommend that students entering the program have computer literacy, which includes having some keyboarding and word processing skills. |
