Description:

GIS is an interdisciplinary program offered by the faculty of applied science that combines a thorough knowledge of Geography and Computing Science topics such as: human and physical geography, databases, and computer graphics, with options to take courses in remote sensing, computer graphics and visualization, urban geography, climatology, and spatial modeling among many others.

GIS is all about the computational analysis of geographical phenomena. In this program, you will learn how create, store, analyze, manage, and visualize spatial data. Aside from its uses in cartography for creating maps such as those found in Google Earth, GIS is used by government agencies for urban planning and resource management. It is also used by companies involved in natural resource exploration—such as those in the mining, oil and gas, and forestry industries.
