The graduate option in Environment is a cross-disciplinary option offered in conjunction with the Bieler School of Environment within the LL.M. (thesis or non-thesis), providing students with an appreciation for the role of science, politics, and ethics in informed decision-making in the environment sector. The thesis option requires the production of a 30,000-word thesis.

Candidates for admission to the LL.M. program must hold the degree of Bachelor of Laws, or its equivalent (e.g. J.D.), from an accredited university (as determined by the Quebec government). The candidate must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0/4.0, or its equivalent (Upper Second Class). This standing does not guarantee admission, however; the Graduate Admissions Committee weighs the entire file. There are a limited number of places in the programs.
At the time of application, candidates should indicate whether they wish to be registered in the Faculty generally, or in the Institute of Comparative Law or the Institute of Air and Space Law. The different program requirements are set out elsewhere in these web pages.
Candidates must also indicate whether they wish to apply to the Thesis option or the Non-Thesis option. Candidates who apply to the thesis option may be offered a place in the non-thesis option.
In the case of applications to thesis programs, the Graduate Admissions Committee must consider the availability of a supervisor. If a supervisor is not available in the applicant's preferred field of study, the applicant may be refused admission or else offered admission pending a change of field of study. |
