| The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine offers a graduate program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM coding). The CMM Program is an elaborate program focusing on cancer, cardiovascular regulation, computational biology, digestive physiology, growth and development, kidney research, neuromuscular diseases, obesity and diabetes, reproductive physiology, stem cells and vision. Professors of the CMM Graduate Program are located in various locations, including the CMM Department, the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), the National Research Council (NRC) and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. During training, the student will develop a critical approach to published work and to his own research. Students should have a good general knowledge of their chosen field and a reasonably detailed and up-to-date knowledge of the areas related to their own particular research project.
The CMM program is also affiliated with three collaborative programs that allows graduate students to specialize in either: i) Bioinformatics, ii) Human Molecular Genetics or iii) Pathology and Experimental Medicine. For these programs, students must apply to the CMM program with an indication of their interest for one of the collaborative program. To be admitted, students must first meet the admission criteria of the CMM program. If successful, then the application is automatically submitted to the collaborative program for final admission.

Hold a bachelor of sciences (BSc) degree with a specialization or major (or equivalent) in one of the following areas: biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, human kinetics (kinesiology), biopharmaceutical or biomedical sciences. Have achieved a minimum average of 75% (B+) calculated in accordance with FGPS guidelines in their previous studies. Demonstrate a good academic performance in previous studies as shown by official transcripts, research reports, abstracts or any other documents demonstrating research skills; Provide at least two confidential letters of recommendation from professors who have known the applicant and are familiar with the student work; Provide a statement of purpose indicating the career goals and the interests in the proposed research area; Identify at least one professor who is willing and available to act as thesis supervisor. |
