In order to understand the modern and contemporary world, it is generally acknowledged that one must have a comprehension and sense of the great events, personalities, ideas and forces of the early modern era (1500-1800). For this past shaped and influenced the foundations and mechanisms of the present world order not only in politics, but also in culture, society, economics, diplomacy and strategy. The MA in Early Modern History endeavours to provide students with a unique and insightful understanding of the present through a fundamental understanding of the early modern era. This programme will equip its participants with the skills necessary for original research, contextualization, analysis and interpretation.

Prerequisites:

    Students should have at least a 2.1 (GPA of 3.08) in their first degree. Students whose first language is not English will be required to submit evidence of their language competency.
