Description:

Health information management professionals manage healthcare data and information resources, including services in planning, collecting, aggregating, analyzing, and disseminating individual patient data and aggregate clinical data.

Healthcare records are needed for healthcare delivery & management planning, for indicating disease patterns and trends, and for analysis by medical researchers. CD-ED is working with local healthcare and health information development professionals to develop this program to the CHIMA standards. We expect the program to be enrollable in 2009. Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  •  Grade12 Biology  or  Grade12 Chemistry  or  Grade12 Physics 
  •  Grade12 Mathematics 
Admission to a diploma program requires high school completion or the equivalent. Applicants must have a typing speed of 30 words per minute, must submit an essay outlining why you wish to participate in this program, and must complete an English proficiency test.

Applicants must also have a criminal records check, submit proof of immunization, and participate in a telephone interview.
