Description:

Our program emphasizes the interdisciplinary basis of Women and Gender Studies, its community linkages, and grounding in feminist theories and methods. Our graduate students have access to a diverse faculty with strong research profiles in a range of areas across the social sciences and humanities. With 50 permanent affiliated faculty and approximately 40 students, students also have the unique opportunity for extensive, individual attention.

    To be admitted into the program, applicants will normally be expected to have a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree, with a minimum B average or equivalent. Students who do not meet eligibility criteria may be admitted with the requirement to complete a qualifying year or additional courses.

    Statement of Interest (maximum 500 words): Clearly explain your proposed area of research, especially those aspects of it that will be interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary. List any previous experience you have that is relevant to Women and Gender Studies, and discuss any specific skills you have that would assist you in undertaking your research.
    References: Please provide three (3) recommendation forms, at least two of which are academic and one other relevant to Women and Gender Studies.
    A current CV/Resume.
    Writing Sample (10-25 pages in length): You may want to write a brief paragraph pointing out why you consider this paper to be a good example of your potential for graduate work.
    List of relevant courses: Please include a list of all courses you have taken that are relevant to this program of study. Where the relevant content (to Women and Gender Studies) is not evident in the title of the course, please explain, briefly, how the course content provides relevant background for graduate study in Women and Gender Studies.
    Official transcripts for all universities and colleges attended.
