To study English is to learn that reading literature is still the best way to understand the world and its many cultures. To study with us is to learn from faculty who have won more teaching awards than any department at SFU, all while writing and editing hundreds of scholarly books and articles, and award-winning fiction, poetry, and drama. To study English literature at SFU is to learn how to argue and how to take apart arguments, to read fantastic books, and to take part in amazing conversations that will change your life. Forever.

The English program in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers a major, a minor, and certificates in creative writing and in writing and rhetoric. You can start this program at either the Burnaby or Surrey campus.
