Description:

The departments of Computer Science and Physics & Astronomy offer a joint Honours program for in-depth study in both Computer Science and Physics & Astronomy. The Department of Computer Science at the University of Manitoba is an internationally recognized research center, and our students have opportunities to work in active research laboratories including robotics, autonomous agents, bioinformatics, novel interface design, using mathematics and methods from nature to solve computing problems, and more. Our students have access to a modern selection of cutting-edge courses, and our well-established co-op program sends students to exciting workplaces including government offices, movie and game studios. Further, through our elective program students are able to combine Computer Science with study in a wide variety of fields including the arts and music, psychology, mathematics, engineering, management, and many more. Computer Science degree programs at the U of M are internationally accredited by the CIPS (Canadian Information Processing Society) Computer Science Accreditation Council under the Seoul accord.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    High school graduation, including 5 full credits at the Grade 12 level.

    A minimum average of 80% over the following,

    with no less than 60% in each course:

    • English 40S
    • Applied Mathematics 40S
    • 60% Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S and Physics 40S
    • One of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or
    • An academic 40S course

    Program admission requirements: 24 credit hours, including COMP 1020, PHYS 1070, MATH 1300, MATH 1700
