Description:

The B.C.L./LL.B. program is an opportunity to learn the Civil Law and Common Law traditions within a single, integrated course of studies. Its duration is flexible: at a normal pace of 15 credits per term, the program can be completed in 7 terms or three and a half years.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of university studies (60 credits), or a diploma of collegial studies (DCS) from a Quebec College of General and Professional Education (CEGEP), at the time of registration. Although candidates who have completed 60 credits of university study are eligible to apply to the Faculty of Law, the strength of the pool is such that almost all students admitted in the 'university' category have completed an undergraduate degree. Candidates admitted directly from CEGEP should be aware that Bar Admission requirements in a number of states include studies at the university level prior to commencing studies in law.
Application Notes : McGill's BCL/JD program is offered in a bilingual (French and English) environment. To be eligible, applicants to the BCL/JD program must possess advanced proficiency in at least one language (English or French) and be passively bilingual in the second language (English or French), meaning they have, at a minimum, advanced intermediate abilities in written and spoken comprehension.
    Additional Admission Requirements:
    • Letter(s) of Reference
    • Resume/Curriculum Vitae
    • Statement of Research Interests
