Description:

Begin to specialize in accounting. You'll study cost accounting, auditing, taxation, finance, quantitative methods and more. You'll apply theory to real-world situations in business simulations, case studies and group projects. The second year allows for a flexible schedule through a mixed offering of face-to-face and online classes. Through a unique partnership between Great Plains College and Saskatchewan Polytechnic, the two-year Business Diploma in Accountancy is offered full-time in Swift Current through a blended format of face-to-face and on-line classes.

The first year of studies provides a well-rounded introduction to core business competencies in accounting, finance, management, marketing, human resources and much more. All classes in the first year are offered in a face-to-face format. The second year of studies is focused on accountancy, including costs accounting, auditing, taxation and finance. Through real-life examples and the use of case studies, students will learn how to conduct audits, perform business analyses and present financial information in an expert and professional manner. The combination of face-to-face and online classes in the second year allows for a more flexible learning schedule. Students who complete the Business Diploma in Accountancy at Great Plains College Swift Current Campus will receive their diploma from Saskatchewan Polytechnic, an institution that has an outstanding reputation for business education.
