Description:

Great teachers change lives. They lead and mentor, challenge and inspire. Teachers have a lasting impact on their students, which might be why you’re considering a career in education for yourself. Working in education—whether it be in the classroom or in another capacity—is a rewarding field. Your life will be rich with moments where you are able to see the difference you make in the lives of others.

The program is a 60 credit-hour program delivered in 11 months that offers the same course work and certification as a two-year program. It builds on previous undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts, science, commerce, or other comparable programs, as students are expected to have a sufficient background in a subject area to effectively teach content. Students concentrate either in elementary (K-5), secondary (6-12), of French second language teaching through co-operative learning and teamwork, along with practical teaching techniques.

Applicants must hold a four-year (minimum of 120 credit hours) bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, or be an candidate for the degree in the year you wish to begin your Bachelor of Education program. A minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.7 or a minimum of 2.7 on your most recent 60 credit hours attempted is required. For their teachable subjects, applicants must have completed 30 credit hours in a List A teachable subject area or 24 credit hours in a List A teachable subject area and 18 credit hours in a List A or B teachable subject area.
