Description:

For the artistic drama student eager to express their creative vision, the University of Alberta's BFA Theatre Design program delivers conservatory-style training and strives to be both comprehensive and diverse in theoretical and practical approaches to costume, lighting and set design.

Prerequisites:

Grade for Entrance Previous Year (%)*72
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 English 
- You need five (5), 30-level (grade 12) classes (5 credits)
- Of these five classes, no mark can be below 50%
- You must have English Language Arts 30-1
- You must have four (4) other classes from Groups A, B or C (Such as: Biology 30, Chemistry 30, Physics 30, Science 30, Mathematics 31, Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2, Computing Science ADV (CTS - 5 credits), Social Studies 30-1, 30-level language other than English, additional 30-level language other than English, one (1) Fine Arts subject).

Additional Admission Requirements:
  • Portfolio
You must demonstrate your creative skills in drawing and painting prior to acceptance into the program with the submission of a design portfolio to satisfy the selection committee that you have the necessary ability, skills, and commitment to undertake the program. If you would like your portfolio returned please indicate so when your portfolio is submitted.
