Description:

The major in music is designed to provide students with an understanding of music theory and history and to develop their performance skills in voice, instruments, or keyboard. The options available to graduates of this program include further study in a graduate school or school of music, and employment in a music- related occupation.

Students wishing to apply for admission to this program must present a minimum overall average of 60% with no grade below 55%. Average must include English 30-1 (or equivalent).
Application Notes : All students entering any program in music (as major, concentration, specialization, or minor) must take the following placement exams offered yearly during Fall Semester registration:
◦Music Theory Placement Exam
◦Musicianship Skills Placement Exam
Additional Admission Requirements:
    Keyboard/Instrumental applicants: Perform two contrasting selections (one or more movements each). Minimum performance level Grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) or equivalent.
    Vocal applicants: Perform two contrasting selections, at least one selection in a second language. Minimum performance level Grade 6 Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) or equivalent.
