The MA is a one-year, full-time programme which is attained through the successful completion of 90 credits, 60 of which are obtained through coursework, and the remaining 30 through the successful completion of a minor (15,000-20,000 word) thesis. Students take elective modules from two separate strands: Professional Development and Educational Sciences and are also required to take two core modules from the Research Methods strand.

Non-UCD graduates are required to enclose with their application full original or notarised transcripts of their third-level qualifications (these may be obtained from the registrar of the relevant institution(s). Applicants whose first language is not English or Irish are required to provide a Certificate of Proficiency in English. This should reach a minimum overall score of 7.0 on the IELTS scale.
