| The main objective of this course is to provide an accredited qualification for those wishing to work as archivists in archives services and in other organisations which require professional expertise in the management of archives and records. It seeks to create a dynamic profession which can contribute to the establishment of new archives and new corporate record services, promote a more holistic approach to the preservation of archives and facilitate greater accountability through better record keeping standards; to create a sustainable environment for research and exploration in archival science and records management; to provide education in which all the core modules and many optional modules will be relevant to archivists working in any country and not just to those working in Ireland. |
