Description:

The MA in Film Studies degree path which provides research opportunities for students at an advanced level, may be taken in the following configurations: (a) a one year programme or (b) as stage one of a two year M.Litt in Film Studies (with optional Film Production modules) or (c) as stage one of a three year structured PhD in Film Studies (with optional Film Production modules in year two).

Students must acquire 90 credits to graduate with the MA in Film Studies, 180 credits to graduate with the M.Litt in Film Studies and 270 credits to graduate with the PhD in Film Studies. The programme modules listed below are designed to facilitate the one year MA in Film Studies. Modularised pathways to M.Litt in Film Studies and PhD in Film Studies qualification should be discussed by prospective applicants on an individual basis with Centre for Film Studies staff. All three pathways above are designed to provide advanced education for people interested in pursuing academic careers or in working in research, education and / or focussed professional areas. The essence of the programmes is the completion of a major research based dissertation which makes an original contribution to knowledge in the researcher's discipline.

    Normal qualification for admission is a First Class Honours or a Second Class Honours, Grade One. Applications from graduates in a wide range of subjects are considered. Candidates with other equivalent qualifications or relevant experience are also welcome to apply.
