Description:

Our nationally accredited Pharmacy Technician program thoroughly prepares graduates for this fast-paced and highly respected occupation. As a regulated pharmacy technician, you will be involved with dispensing prescriptions, preparing compounded medications and sterile products, repackaging pharmaceuticals, managing inventory, and providing patient care. The two four-week practicums give you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in both community and institutional pharmacy settings.

Students must be minimum 18 years of age and have a keyboarding speed of 20 wpm. Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases) are an asset.

Required grade 12 diploma with a minimum of:
60% in English 30-1 or English 30-2 or equivalency (grade of C in NorQuest’s ENGL-2550),
60% in Pure Math 30 or Applied Math 30 or equivalency,
60% in Biology 30 or equivalency (grade of C in NorQuest's ANPH-1001 and 1002; or ANPH-1000; or GSCN-1000),
60% in Chemistry 30 or equivalency (grade of C– in NorQuest's PCHM-1000).
English and math skills assessment must be completed.

CPR–BLS Level C for Health Care Providers required before practicum placement begins.

Students must provide a clear criminal record check and an up-to-date immunization record.

A health status questionnaire completed and submitted.

Students must have the physical and mental abilities required for lab and practicum experiences.

Mature students (age 19+) must meet all requirements except for the Grade 12 diploma.

You must provide proof of English language proficiency (ELP) prior to admission if English is your second language. Please see website for acceptable evidence of ELP.
