The Building Construction program is a 3 year, 10 credit course. It is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills and work ethics to enter the carpentry trade; to gain sound knowledge of modern woodworking machined and safe work practices; become familiar with materials and procedures needed to enter related occupations such as cabinet making, furniture making, estimating and sales; and provide a foundation for post secondary education in the fields such as drafting, architecture, and engineering.

Students will participate in the construction of projects such as a ready to move cottage, the design and construction of various types of cabinets and furniture, and stairs as well as producing computer aided drawings for the various projects utilizing AutoCad software. The emphasis is on the attainment of industry level standards in support of career success and personal satisfactions. For the more advanced students there is ample time and opportunities to design and construct projects of their own choosing.
