Description:

This program is designed to provide you with the potential for obtaining a supervisory or managerial position in an office environment. In addition to teaching office skills, you will learn management theory, supervision, human resource management, leadership and group dynamics. Graduates of this program will also receive advanced standing in three of MHC's continuing studies certificate programs; Medical Office Assistant, Hospital Unit Clerk, and Legal Office Assistant.

During the first year of this two-year diploma program you will acquire the necessary computer skills and office skills to obtain an entry-level office job. You will focus on areas such as bookkeeping, accounting, file maintenance and project management. You will also receive practical, hands-on training through two unpaid work terms during this year. Upon completion of the first year, you will receive a certificate in Administrative Office Professional. After successful completion of your second year of study, you will earn the Administrative Office Management diploma. During that second year, you will continue to enhance your skill-set. Classes will shift to focus on managerial and supervisory theory, human resource management, leadership and group dynamics. This additional education will provide you with more opportunities to advance within an office environment.

Applicants are required to have ELA 30-1 or ELA 30-2, and Math 10C.
Additional Admission Requirements:
    A keyboarding speed of a minimum of 20 wpm with 90% accuracy is recommended.
