Description:

Learn the theory of traditional Chinese medicine – a discipline that includes acupuncture, medicinal herbs, and tuina massage. This 50-hour course will explore the concepts and physiology of qi (a central theme in Chinese medical theory), blood and body fluids, shen and Mingmen, yin and yang, and the five elements and eight principles. Students will also receive practical instruction as they are introduced to basic concepts of the complex network of meridians and collaterals. These systems integrate the body’s energy into a unified organism. Students will also learn how to locate pressure points as well as the functions and disharmonies of organs.

As a general interest course or as a foundation for further studies in acupuncture, medicinal herbs, or tuina, this course bridges the gap between Western medicine and Eastern medical theory.
