| The Personal Support Worker program trains students to assist people with routine activities of living (personal hygiene, daily homemaking). Personal Support Workers will work under the direction of health care professionals on health care teams. This could include the institutional setting or home care field. The students are instructed as to the methods of working with people of any age who have a disability or condition that affects their ability to care for themselves. Students learn to assist people with these everyday activities. It is ideal for the individual who demonstrates a natural hands-on approach to personal health care. A PSW must be friendly and outgoing, yet empathetic and able to be objective and understand the clinical and medical aspects of assisting in personal health care. |
