The personal support worker in Ontario provides a range of health care services in a variety of settings: long-term care facilities, agencies in the community for home care providers, in adult day programs, supportive housing settings, group homes, hospitals, educational facilities, and many other settings.
The personal support worker is an unregulated health care worker. To graduate from the Personal Support Worker program, students must pass the personal support worker theory examination, which is administered by the National Association of Career Colleges. Upon passing, students will receive a certificate an pin from the National Association of Career Colleges. |

The applicant must be at least 18 years of age or have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or its equivalent. You may qualify as a mature student by writing and passing a language proficiency test (a.k.a. mature student/literacy test). Registrations are done by appointment only. | Additional Admission Requirements: | Prior to clinical placements, students must complete an approved Standard First Aid Course and level "C" CPR (basic rescuer) course. They must also provide the school with a clear Police Clearance Certificate (with Vulnerable Sector). |
