Description:

The Community Studies program is a diploma program that provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work with and for people in the community. This is a challenging and dynamic program that is based upon the principle of learning by practical application. It prepares students for challenging roles in community-based agencies and as community leaders. An emphasis is placed upon improving communities through both short-term and long-term development.

In addition to learning specific skills in personal, group, organization and community development, students will also specialize in working with people who have developmental disabilities. Positive student attitude and professional skill and knowledge will be a necessity and will be constantly utilized and challenged. Graduates of the Corona College program are ideally suited to becoming behavioural aides, child and youth workers, community service workers, family service workers, group home workers, life skills instructors, addictions workers, developmental service workers, and teaching assistants/aides. St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid training and Crisis Intervention is included in the program.
