Description:

Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms: bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and algae. Programs provide a comprehensive study of modern microbiology ranging from environmental to medical to molecular microbiology. Many courses include laboratory components to develop skills in microbiological techniques. The Honours and cooperative work-study (co-op) programs provide experience in government, private sector and research laboratories.

    High school graduation including 5 full credits at the Grade 12 level.

    A minimum average of 80% over the following,

    with no less than 60% in each course:

    • English 40S
    • 70% Applied Mathematics 40S
    • 60% Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S
    • 50% in Biology, Chemistry, Physics (if taking PHYS 1020) all at the 40S level
    • 60% in Physics 40S (if taking PHYS 1050)
    • An academic 40S course

    Program admission (for Honours or Major): 24 credit hours, including MBIO 1010 and CHEM 1110
