Description:

Welcome to the Master of Dentistry in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program. This program is designed to prepare you to become a qualified, ethical, and proficient Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. As a graduate, you will be well-equipped for a career in clinical practice, academia, or research, both in Canada and internationally. You will gain experience in all major areas of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, with a focus on maxillofacial trauma and craniofacial anomalies.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    The following are minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the MDent in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

    To be considered for admission, you must:

    • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
    • Possess a dental qualification that makes you eligible for licensure in a province of Canada.
    • Hold a National Dental Examining Board of Canada Certificate.
    • Comply with provincial requirements for licensing of dental interns and residents.
    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 550] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or Pearson Test of English (Academic)
    Additional Admission Requirements:

      This program has one application deadline each year, with entry only in July. To apply, please complete the online application, which includes the following components:

      • Application fee: A non-refundable fee is required.
      • Unofficial copies of transcripts: Submit copies of your academic records.
      • Current curriculum vitae: Provide an updated CV detailing your education and experience.
      • Dean’s letter: A Dean’s letter from the institution which conferred your dental degree. This letter must be requested within the online application.
      • Two letters of recommendation:
      • One from your current or recent position.
      • One from a professional in oral and maxillofacial surgery (both must be requested through the application).
      • Statement of intent: Outline your goals and reasons for applying.
      • Proof of English language proficiency (if required).
