Description:

The Master of Dentistry in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics program provides a background in the basic sciences underlying orthodontic treatment and instills a critical, independent, problem-solving approach toward clinical practice.

    The following are the minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the MDent in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

    To be considered for entry into the Master of Dentistry in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics program, you must meet the following minimum criteria:

    • Graduate degree: Completion of a minimum four-year university-based dentistry program.
    • Clinical experience: At least one year of clinical experience.

    To study as a graduate student at the University of Manitoba:

    1.   You must demonstrate English language proficiency

    AND

    2.   You must have a four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized college or university with a minimum "B" average (3.0) in the last 60 credit hours or equivalent.

    Application process

    Applications for the Master of Dentistry in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics program are accepted once a year for June entry only. To apply, you must complete the online application, which includes several components.

    Application components

    • Application fee: A non-refundable fee is required. Learn more here.
    • Official academic transcripts: Submit transcripts from all recognized post-secondary institutions, regardless of whether you have been awarded a degree. You can scan and upload your transcripts directly through the online application. Transcripts sent directly from the institution are not required until after admission.
    • Current curriculum vitae: Provide an up-to-date curriculum vitae that details your education and experience.
    • Letters of recommendation: Three letters must be requested through the application.
    • Biographical sketch: Include a one to two-page document discussing your educational and career objectives, personal experiences, and other factors that have influenced your goals.
