Description:

This program is designed to assist persons with a disability to acquire the practical skills and confidence required to make the transition from unemployment to a satisfying work, or work-related, environment of their choice.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    To be eligible, you must have a goal of at least part-time employment, be between the ages of 16 and 65, have an identified and diagnosed mental health issue or other permanent disability that prohibits participation in "mainstream" programming, be referred by an Income Assistance EAW worker and have PWD designation, have no recent history of conduct, or presenting actions, which pose a threat to the safety and well-being of others, be free of substance addictions, have a sufficient oral understanding of English which will allow full participation, have the motivation and commitment to achieve positive outcomes as demonstrated by punctuality and follow-through, demonstrate an ability to meet the minimum entrance criteria and identify community health supports who can be contacted in case of emergency.
