| More than 500 graduate students from around the world are enrolled in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the School of Mining and Petroleum Engineering degree programs. The Department & School offer graduate students specialized research degree programs leading to three graduate degree programs: Master of Science (MSc), Master of Engineering (MEng), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Our research groups have access to many unique, state-of-the-art laboratories, an excellent support network, and an active and integrative local industry. Our Department is home to many world leaders in their disciplines, including six NSERC Industrial Research Chairs, the Nanofibre Research Chair in Forest Products, the C.W. Carry Professor of Steel Structures, the MCAA Chair in Masonry Systems and a Canada Research Chair in Natural Resources Uncertainty Management, among many others who are active, internationally-recognized leaders in their research areas. |

The Department's minimum admission requirements are a four-year undergraduate degree with an average of 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate work (or graduate work) at the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and a TOEFL score of 90 (internet-based with at least 21 per section) or an equivalent approved English language examination where applicable. |
