Bridging the Gap assists women who have survived violence and abuse to overcome employment barriers that prevent them from making successful transitions to sustainable employment. The program will help participants to deal with issues of violence and abuse and consequences such as financial dependency and low self-esteem in order to enable the participant to move toward independence and self-reliance.
Program components include: educational assistance (i.e. lifeskills, community, violence and abuse training, computer and internet training, financial management, specific skills training) Employment focused programming (i.e. Career Decision Making; Work Experience, Exploring work and employment, employment maintenance skills, transferable skills, motivational patterns, job search skills, and strategies) Parenting and personal counselling support (i.e. one-on-one counselling, personal management skills, family relationships). |
