Description:

The Department of English offers studies leading to the Master of Arts Degree. The M.A. Program allows considerable flexibility in working out a course of study and offers the means for intellectual and professional development through both the discipline of seminars and personal exchange with individual faculty members.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants should have a strong B.A. in English or Comparative Literature with a broad range of courses in major areas of literature in English. Students should normally have a high grade point average (normally no lower than a cumulative 3.5 GPA) and strong references.
    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 8.5-9] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 280] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 95] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 650]
    Application Notes : The Department of English has certain requirements beyond the Dean of Graduate Studies regulations, namely a minimum 3.5 CGPA (cumulative grade point average) and, for international students, either a degree from an English-speaking post-secondary institution or top scores in any of the acceptable English language tests, i.e. TOEFL Paper (650+), TOEFL Computer-Based (280+), TOEFL Internet-Based (95+), or IELTS (8.5-9).
