The PhD in Biomedical Engineering offers specializations in Biomaterials, Biomechanics, Mechatronics, and Imaging.

Biomedical Engineering is a program that promotes the cooperative involvement of clinical and basic researchers in allied disciplines such as imaging, biomaterials, biomechanics and mechatronics. This program encourages multidisciplinary links between the faculties of Engineering, Medicine & Dentistry, and Health Sciences, Robarts Research Institute and London Health Research Institute, and Western’s teaching hospitals.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Normally requires a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering
    Applicants with a master's degree in other areas other than biomedical engineering may also be admitted, but may have to take additional BME courses to make up any deficit.
    Students with exceptional undergraduate records may apply for the direct entry PhD program. Please contact the Biomedical Engineering office for more information.

    1. official transcripts or academic records for all post secondary institutions attended;
    2. at least two (2) references; and
    3. proof of English Language Proficiency - information about the acceptable forms of English Language Proficiency is available on Western’s School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website.
