Mathematics and Statistics
|School:||University of Victoria
|Field of Study:||Mathematics, General
|Description:||Mathematics can be thought of as the study of patterns and relationships. Rather than a static, fixed body of knowledge, it is a dynamic, flexible area of study that is constantly evolving. Statistics combines observed data and mathematics to describe and make probablistic inferences about a variety of phenomena that affect our lives directly; the potential applications are unlimited.
Graduates find careers in education, research, industry, government and business. Honours Programs allow specialization in one or more disciplines in the last two or three years and are intended for students of above-average ability.
