Description:

The nursery, landscaping, greenhouse and floriculture industries are growing at a rapid pace. Our Associate Diploma in Horticulture will give you the skills you need to have a great future that offers many career options for individuals who like to be creative and work with their hands and minds. The J.J. Neilson Arboretum, part of Ridgetown Campus, provides an outdoor classroom with more than 700 trees, shrubs and flower species

Career options include: equipment operator, garden centre manager, landscape designer, independent entrepreneur, garden equipment and supply dealer, greenhouse grower, horticultural technician, landscaping contractor, lawn care manager, nursery manager, parks and recreation technician, garden supervisor, and arborist.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    OSSD or equivalent, a minimum 60% average, in 6 Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses, excluding Co-op credits; including a minimum of Grade 11C Math and 12C English.; OR Mature Student Status.
    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 600] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 250] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 85] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70]
    Application Notes : Applicants required to provide evidence of English proficiency must meet one of the following four proficiency requirements: The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer-based), and Test of Written English (TWE) with a score 5 (discretionary range of 4.5), and Test of Spoken English (TSE) with a score of 50. The Michigan English Assessment Battery (MELAB) with a minimum overall score of 85 and a minimum composition score of 83. In addition, applicants must present a minimum score on the oral test of three (3). The Canadian English Language Assessment (CAEL) with a minimum overall band score of 70
