Description:

The Department of Psychiatry at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University is committed to providing residents with a superb and comprehensive training program. We strive to have our trainees increase their knowledge throughout educational and clinical experiences and prepare them for lifelong learning.

Residents will experience a rich rotational and theoretical curriculum to provide the foundation for a thriving career as a psychiatrist. Consistent with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Competence by Design (CBD) Curriculum and current medical education practices, our program offers direct clinical teaching with continuous feedback. Built on the columns of practical learning during the rotations and experiential knowledge in lectures and seminars, our residents benefit from the whole day of protected time to focus on their education and training. Additional teaching sessions, offered on full-day academic Thursdays, cover all aspects of psychiatric practice and provide an opportunity for residents to expand their knowledge base and skills.
