Research in the Atmospheric Science Group at Dalhousie University is dedicated toward understanding the physics and chemistry of the climate system. We design and build instrumentation, conduct field and laboratory experiments, perform data analysis, develop sophisticated models, and advance theory. Our research is performed in collaboration with students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Departments of Physics and Atmospheric Science and Oceanography.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
Recognized honours B.Sc. degree (four-year degree with Physics major) is usually expected before admission. Students without an honours degree can apply for a preliminary qualifying year at Dalhousie for advanced standing, after which their application for graduate studies will be assessed.

Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended are required, together with two letters of reference. In addition, it is recommended that prospective students from outside North America and Western Europe arrange for submission of original test results of the General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the Advanced GRE in Physics. All candidates whose native language is not English must also arrange for submission of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score reports. The Faculty of Graduate Studies requires prospective students to achieve a TOEFL score of at least 580; the Physics department requires a higher standard, currently 600.
