Description:The Office Administration General program prepares students for an entry-level office job in just two semesters. Office administration professionals provide the support necessary to maintain a well-organized business. This career is ideal for people who have an interest in computers and can learn new procedures quickly. With today’s changing and diverse workplace, office assistants need strong communication, human relations and technology skills.

The Office Administration General program teaches practical and transferable skills, attitudes and knowledge to succeed in a variety of office settings. Students learn business communications, office procedures, math and accounting while using current word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database and desktop publishing software. Students develop job search and essential interpersonal skills in preparation for field placement. The 4-week field placement in the second semester provides an opportunity to apply new skills and knowledge while obtaining valuable work experience.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (U/C), or Open (O) preparation levels with Grade 12 English (C/U) Level. or successful completion of the Mature Student Assessment. or successful completion of the General Education Development Test (GED). or appropriate credits from the Academic and Career Entrance program (ACE). Courses Recommended: Grade 11 College Preparation Mathematics.
