Our research-intensive department focuses on five areas of research: astrophysics, biological physics, condensed matter physics, optics, and quantum computing, with faculty members specializing in theoretical, experimental and computational tools.

Over the last decade, the department has grown to become a major powerhouse of research, housing 42 faculty members and approximately 230 graduate students, attracting the top research funding per faculty at the University. Browsing through faculty websites, you will find exciting new discoveries in both fundamental and applied aspects of physics, represented by publications in top international scholarly journals

  • Normally a Master's degree in Physics, with at least a 75% standing.
  • Students with an undergraduate degree in Physics may apply for admission directly to the PhD program. Successful applicants will have an outstanding academic record, breadth of knowledge in physics, and strong letters of recommendation.
